Courtney Lawes brands his two-match ban for striking with the knee "harsh".

England lock Courtney Lawes has returned from his two-match ban and now admits that he faces a tough task in getting back into England’s starting XV.

Lawes received the ban for striking Argentina hooker Mario Ledesma with his knee during England's opening World Cup game.

"I thought it was a bit harsh but what can you do?" Lawes said. “You just have to get on with it and take it on the chin and that's what I have done."

"There was a very good game at the weekend and a lot of the boys played really well.

"I think in training this week I have to do whatever I can to try and get back into the team."

England see out their pool stage campaign against Scotland on Saturday, October 1.
