Julia Goerges upsets fifth seed Caroline Wozniacki

Julia Goerges knocks out fifth seed Caroline Wozniacki to reach the third round of the French Open.

Julia Goerges has claimed a straight-sets victory to knock out fifth seed Caroline Wozniacki at the French Open 6-4 7-6(4).

The German recovered from a break down to take the first set 6-4 in the opening match on the Philippe Chatrier court.

Goerges then went on to serve for the match at 6-5 after breaking the Dane, but Wozniacki replied with a break of her own to take the second set to a tie-break.

World number 68 Georges went on to win the tie-break 7-4 and book a place in the third round, where she will face Irina Falconi.
