Australian tennis star Nick Kyrgios has been handed a suspended 28-day ban from the ATP following his offensive remarks directed at opponent Stanislas Wawrinka during the Rogers Cup earlier this month.
The 20-year-old was caught on camera telling Wawrinka between points that fellow tennis player Thanasi Kokkinakis had "banged" his girlfriend, who is rumoured to be 19-year-old Croatian Donna Vekic.
As a result of his remarks, the ATP fined Kyrgios, who later apologised for the "unacceptable" comments, which he described as being said in the "heat of the moment".
Following a review, it has been announced that Kyrgios has been fined a further $25,000 (£15,845) and will serve a 28-day suspension from all ATP competitions if he breaches rules relating to improper conduct within the next six months.
A statement from ATP said that Kyrgios's penalties will be scrapped as long as he "does not incur any fines for verbal or physical abuse at any ATP sanctioned tournament", or "does not accumulate fines totalling more than $5,000 (£3,169) for any other offences at ATP sanctioned tournaments".
Kyrgios is due to compete at the US Open next month.
