Benoit Paire shocks Stanislas Wawrinka in the second round of the Rogers Cup.

Eighth seed Stanislas Wawrinka has been sent crashing out of the Rogers Cup by Frenchman Benoit Paire.

The 27th-ranked player broke the Swiss number two three times on his way to taking the first set 6-2, although it was far from plain sailing as Wawrinka himself broke twice.

It was an altogether different story in the second set, and with only one break apiece it went to a tie-break.

That is where the apparent stalemate ended, as Paire stormed to a 7-2 victory in the tie-break, setting up a third-round clash with Tommy Haas or Marinko Matosevic.
