Johanna Konta delighted to get "another chance" after US Open first-round win

British hopeful Johanna Konta says that she is happy to get "another chance" to perform following her first-round win at the US Open.

British hopeful Johanna Konta has admitted that she is happy to get "another chance" to play following her first-round triumph at the US Open.

The 24-year-old managed to grab a 6-3 6-0 victory over American Louisa Chirico at Flushing Meadows.

"I'm very happy to get another chance to compete," Konta told Sky Sports News. "The conditions are tough out here - it's very hot. The scoreline might say different, but she made it tough for me."

Konta has never progressed past the second round at the tournament before.
