Petra Kvitova eases past Petra Cetkovska

Petra Kvitova beats compatriot Petra Cetkovska in straight sets to move into the third round of the US Open.

Petra Kvitova has advanced into the third round of the US Open following a straight-sets win over Czech compatriot Petra Cetkovska.

Kvitova established daylight in the scoreline by breaking the Cetkovska serve to take a 3-1 lead in the first set.

However, Cetkovska fought back to level up the set at four games apiece, before another broken serve in the final game undermined her comeback and helped the 24-year-old win 6-4.

Another two breaks by Kvitova in the second and last game then helped the world number four to a 6-2 win as she booked her place in the next round.
