Petra Kvitova safely past Sorana Cirstea in Wimbledon first round

Petra Kvitova eases into the second round at Wimbledon with a straight-sets win over Sorana Cirstea.

Two-time Wimbledon champion Petra Kvitova has eased into the second round at the All England Club following a straight-sets win over Sorana Cirstea.

On a day when rain heavily affected the schedule, Kvitova remained composed as she earned a 6-0 6-4 victory at SW19.

The Czech whipped through the first set in just 16 minutes as she left Cirstea firmly on the back foot without a single game on the board.

The second set was more competitive, though, as Cirstea saved two break points and the first four games went the way of serve.

Kvitova managed to eventually go a break up, and that was enough to seal her spot in the second round of the Grand Slam.
