Arsenal 'not planning to sign striker' despite Olivier Giroud injury concerns

Arsene Wenger will not sign a new striker this summer in the wake of Olivier Giroud's recent injury, a report claims.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger reportedly has no intention of signing another striker on a permanent deal this summer, despite injury concerns surrounding Olivier Giroud.

The 27-year-old turned his ankle during last weekend's 2-2 draw against Everton, with the full extent of the damage not yet known.

Giroud will see a specialist to assess the injury, with some reports claiming that the Frenchman could miss the remainder of the year.

Despite this, BBC Sport reports that Wenger will place trust in his current squad of players, while he may delve into the transfer market at a later date.

Arsenal take on Besiktas tonight in a Champions League qualifier, which remains in the balance following a goalless first leg.
