Samba asks Blackburn to allow transfer

Christopher Samba hopes that Blackburn Rovers won’t prevent him from moving on.

Christopher Samba has confirmed that he wants to be able to leave Blackburn Rovers as soon as a suitable offer presents itself.

The defender, who has been tipped for a move to Arsenal as well as receiving some interest from Spurs, hopes that manager Steve Kean will allow him to progress in his career.

However, Kean has indicated that he aims to retain Samba, especially having seen his fellow defender Phil Jones disappear to Manchester United.

“I know there are discussions with some clubs,” Samba told L’Equipe. “It’s been four and a half years I have been at Blackburn and two years I have played in relegation battles.

“If a good opportunity presents itself, I want to take it. The club must understand that I want to go a step further. I hope they will not stick in the wheels.”

Samba, who joined Blackburn from Hertha Berlin for £450,000 in 2007, is contracted until 2015.
