Barcelona midfielder Pedro has urged coach Pep Guardiola to sign a new deal with the club.

Guardiola's future at the Nou Camp is currently in doubt as he stalls over fresh terms with the Spanish champions.

"It is clear that we all will stand by his side and support him. We are sure he is going to renew his contract, that he will go on," Pedro told reporters.

"He is a very important person for the club, he knows how it works. I think all Barca fans want him as well and I hope he renews as soon as possible.

"As I say, he has the last word. He has to decide, but we need to support him and hope for positive news, of course."

Barcelona, who are 10 points behind leaders Real Madrid in the Primera Division table, host Sporting Gijon on Saturday evening.
