Barcelona coach Pep Guardiola describes press speculation that striker David Villa has been made available for transfer as "lies".

Barcelona coach Pep Guardiola has dismissed recent speculation that has linked David Villa with a move away from the club during the January transfer window.

A story in Madrid-based newspaper Marca claimed that Villa had been made available for transfer following a falling-out with Lionel Messi.

Speaking at a press conference this afternoon, Guardiola said: "Marca lies. I am the one who comes up with 25 different lineups during the season because I feel that is the best thing to do.

"Most players will remain here this season and the next."

The Spanish champions face Al-Sadd in the Club World Cup semi-final in Japan tomorrow.
