Braintree Town chairman focused on league

Braintree Town's chairman is remaining focused on the "bread and butter" of the league.

Braintree Town's chairman Lee Harding has insisted that the club's focus remains on the Blue Square Premier, despite their televised first-round clash against Tranmere Rovers on Sunday.

Despite Tranmere having the chance to net a reported £18,000 with victory against Rovers, Harding has said that winning the Ryman League and the Blue Square South were more important.

"While Sunday will be a great occasion, our bread and butter is league football and winning the Ryman League and the Conference South were more important," eadt.com quotes Harding as saying.

"Those victories show that we have made progress up the league and from our point of view, we are not playing Maldon and Redbridge anymore but, instead, we are facing the likes of Luton and Stockport."

"I think we can give them a game, especially when you look at their recent record, having lost two and drawn one."

Braintree are currently 20th in the Blue Square Premier.
