Michael Owen calls for technology

Michael Owen calls upon FIFA to introduce the necessary technology to help officials with making the decision as to whether or not the ball has crossed the line for a goal.

Manchester United striker Michael Owen has called upon FIFA to introduce the technology that will help officials decide whether or not the ball has crossed the line for a goal.

The former England international was speaking after Chelsea had been awarded a goal during their FA Cup semi-final against Tottenham Hotspur this evening, despite the ball clearly not passing the line.

"Just got home to see that second goal of Chelsea's," he wrote on Twitter. "Wonder how many more of these decisions will be made before the powers that be start to assist the officials.

"The headlines always seem to be anything other than on the quality of football played nowadays."
