Franz Beckenbauer backs Germany for World Cup

Former Germany defender Franz Beckenbauer believes that his country can win the World Cup next summer.

Former Germany defender Franz Beckenbauer believes that his country has the ability to win the World Cup in Brazil next summer.

Brazil and Spain are considered as the favourites for the crown in 2014, but the 67-year-old is confident that Germany can neutralise the home nation.

"If there's one team capable of neutralising Brazil, I think it's Germany. There's a new style to Germany now, young and fresh, and Jogi Low played his part in that," he told FIFA.com.

Beckenbauer made 103 appearances for his national team.
