FC Koln cruise past Stuttgart

Yuya Osako and Anthony Ujah score the goals as FC Koln ease to a 2-1 win over Stuttgart.

FC Koln recorded their first win of the Bundesliga season by beating Stuttgart 2-0 on Saturday afternoon.

Daniel Halfar created an opportunity for the visitors early on with an inviting corner, but Anthony Ujah could only head past the post after losing his marker inside the box.

Koln didn't have to wait much longer for their lead to arrive though, with Yuya Osako capitalising on hesitancy in the Stuttgart defence to fire home the opening goal.

It was 2-0 just 11 minutes later when Ujah accepted the invitation to shoot from the edge of the box by picking out the bottom corner with a low strike.

Koln continued to dominate proceedings either side of the interval, but clear chances were very rare following a poor start to the game from the hosts.

Stuttgart came close to pulling a goal back against the run of play just after the hour mark when Daniel Didavi's powerful effort from outside the box was tipped over the crossbar from Timo Horn.

The hosts improved in the latter stages, but Horn refused to open the door as he denied Filip Kostic in the final minute to protect his clean sheet and secure all three points for Koln.
