Liverpool team news: Injury, suspension list vs. Leeds United

Sports Mole rounds up all of Liverpool's injury and suspension news ahead of Sunday's Premier League clash with Leeds United.

Liverpool will endeavour to return to winning ways in the Premier League when they travel to Elland Road to do battle with Leeds United on Sunday afternoon.

Jurgen Klopp's side failed to make it three wins out of three when Chelsea paid a visit to Anfield before the international break, as Mohamed Salah's penalty cancelled out Kai Havertz's opener in a 1-1 draw.

The Reds are one of five teams sitting on seven points at this early stage of the season, but they have been hit with a wave of FIFA-imposed absences ahead of this weekend's showdown with Leeds.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up all of Liverpool's latest injury and suspension news ahead of the contest.

James Milner

Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Knock
Possible return date: September 12 (vs. Leeds United)

James Milner was not fit to face Burnley or Chelsea due to a knock, and the severity of the veteran's injury is unclear, making him a doubt for the trip to his former club.

Alisson Becker

Status: Out
Type of injury: Other
Possible return date: September 15 (vs. AC Milan)

Alisson is one of several Premier League Brazilian players banned from taking part this weekend after their clubs refused to release them for international duty, but his suspension will end in time for Liverpool's Champions League opener with AC Milan.

Fabinho

Status: Out
Type of injury: Other
Possible return date: September 15 (vs. AC Milan)

Like Alisson, Fabinho will not be available against Leeds due to the FIFA-imposed suspension, but the midfielder should be fine to face the Rossoneri on Wednesday night.

Roberto Firmino

Status: Out
Type of injury: Hamstring
Possible return date: Unknown

Roberto Firmino would have been unable to take part at Elland Road as well due to the FIFA sanctions, but the attacker had to come off after 42 minutes against Chelsea with a hamstring problem, and it is still unclear how long he may be sidelined for.

Harvey Elliott

Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Muscle
Possible return date: September 12 (vs. Leeds)

Harvey Elliott was called up to the England Under-21s squad for September's matches but was ultimately forced to withdraw due to a suspected muscular problem, and the 18-year-old is facing a race against time to be fit for the weekend.

Takumi Minamino

Status: Out
Type of injury: Thigh
Possible return date: September 15 (vs. AC Milan)

Another player forced to pull out of international duty was Japanese attacker Takumi Minamino, who is nursing a thigh injury and is not expected to shake off the issue in time for Sunday.

Neco Williams

Status: Out
Type of injury: Ankle
Possible return date: Unknown

Wales lost Neco Williams to a suspected ankle problem during the recent international break, and while Liverpool are yet to put a timeframe on his recovery, he most likely would have been on the bench here anyways.

LIVERPOOL'S SUSPENSION LIST

Barring the banned trio of Alisson, Fabinho and Firmino due to the Brazilian FA triggering FIFA's five-day sanction rule, Liverpool have no yellow or red card suspension concerns for this match.
