Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp reportedly passed up the opportunity to sign Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Florian Neuhaus for £21m this summer.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp reportedly turned down the chance to sign Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Florian Neuhaus earlier this summer.

Following Georginio Wijnaldum's exit and subsequent switch to Paris Saint-Germain, Liverpool were expected to sign a replacement for the Dutchman, and Neuhaus was heavily linked with a move.

However, the Reds entered September with no new faces in their midfield, with Klopp instead electing to hand opportunities to Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Harvey Elliott.

According to The Mirror, Monchengladbach were keen to offload Neuhaus this summer and offered Liverpool the chance to sign the 24-year-old, but Klopp decided against making a move.

The report adds that the Reds would have been able to sign Neuhaus for a cut-price figure of £21m, even with his contract at Monchengladbach not due to expire until the summer of 2024.

The six-cap Germany international has made 120 appearances for Monchengladbach in all competitions since 2018, scoring 16 goals and providing 20 assists.
