Brendan Rodgers backs Philippe Coutinho to score more

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers backs Philippe Coutinho to add more goals to his game.

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers believes that Philippe Coutinho will eventually start to add more goals to game.

The Brazilian playmaker has scored just twice for the Reds this season, but the Northern Irishman has claimed that the 21-year-old will begin to find the net more often.

Rodgers told reporters: "I think Coutinho will get more [goals] too. I look at him as a Luka Modric type.

"And when you look at Modric over four years at Tottenham he got 13 goals [in the league] but his influence was massive and Coutinho is of that type.

"He will naturally get more goals but he is a wonderful player for us, he is a key who opens up many things in a game."

Coutinho was signed from Inter Milan for around £8.5m last year.
