Brendan Rodgers 'demands control over Liverpool transfers'

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers is keen to take more control over the club's transfers, according to reports.

Brendan Rodgers will reportedly demand greater control over Liverpool's transfer dealings when he opens contract talks with the club at the end of the season.

The Northern Irishman has guided the Reds to the top of the Premier League table, with the prospect of winning the title for the first time in 24 years.

According to The Mirror, Rodgers would like to end the current model for transfers, which is currently done via a committee including the Liverpool manager, chief executive Ian Ayre, Dave Fallows and Michael Edwards.

However, it is thought that the Reds' owners, Fenway Sports Group, may be willing to alter their model to avoid negotiations dragging on, with Rodgers entering the final year of his contract at Anfield.

The 41-year-old is reportedly attracting attention from Barcelona, Real Madrid and AC Milan.
