Brazilian midfielder Casemiro reportedly has regrets about joining Manchester United from Real Madrid in the summer of 2022.

Casemiro reportedly has regrets over his decision to join Manchester United from Real Madrid in 2022.

The Brazilian enjoyed significant success during his time at the Santiago Bernabeu, playing at a base of midfield alongside the likes of Toni Kroos and Luka Modric.

After spending nine years with Los Blancos, Casemiro made the decision to swap the Spanish top flight for the Premier League.

Casemiro made a positive impression during his first season with the Red Devils, helping the club lift the EFL Cup to end their six-year trophy doubt.

The midfielder made a total of 51 competitive appearances during the 2022-23 campaign, contributing seven goals and seven assists.

Casemiro has continued to feature regularly in the Man United side this season, starting eight of the club's nine Premier League games.

However, he has struggled to find his best form in the opening stages of the new season, with his performances drawing criticism from some quarters.

Amid the question marks over his form, El Nacional are reporting that Casemiro has regrets over his move to Man United last year.

The 31-year-old rues his decision to leave Real Madrid, where he won multiple honours, including five Champions League trophies and three La Liga titles.

The report also raises doubt about Casemiro's long-term future at Old Trafford, with Man United believed to be targeting Benfica youngster Joao Neves.

Nevesd has made 32 senior appearances for Benfica after rising through the youth ranks at the Portuguese club.

Casemiro, meanwhile, has a long-term contract with Man United, which runs until the summer of 2026 with an option to extend by a further year.

The experienced midfielder missed Saturday's 2-1 win over Sheffield United due to an ankle injury that he sustained while on international duty with Brazil.

Casemiro will miss the midweek Champions League clash with Copenhagen through suspension, but he will hope to return from injury in time for Sunday's Manchester derby.
