David Moyes: 'Juan Mata signing first of many' - DUPLICATE

Juan Mata's move to Manchester United will be the first of many, according to manager David Moyes

Manchester United manager David Moyes has stated that the club-record capture of Juan Mata from rivals Chelsea would be the first of many new signings this year.

The Premier League Champions completed a move for the Spaniard on Saturday for a fee of £37.1million and the United boss hopes this transfer will help reverse his team's flagging fortunes this season.

He told MUTV: "This is the first, and there will be many more to come in time. I want the quality of Juan to be the start of it.

"I don't think we will have any more in January. I'm still working on it and looking to do so.

"But hopefully it will be the first of some new signings, some new players who will arrive, more likely in the summertime."

Mata's transfer fee eclipsed the club's previous record deal, to bring the then Tottenham striker Dimitar Berbatov to Old Trafford in 2008.
