Wayne Rooney thanks Manchester United supporters for reaction

Wayne Rooney thanks the Manchester United supporters for their support in Monday's 0-0 draw with Chelsea.

Manchester United forward Wayne Rooney has thanked the club's supporters for their reaction in Monday's 0-0 draw with Chelsea at Old Trafford.

The 27-year-old has been strongly linked with a move away from Old Trafford this summer, with Chelsea openly pursuing the England international.

However, Rooney, who had not spoken to the media since the end of the Premier League season, has praised the fans for the positive reaction he received on his first competitive start this term.

"It was an unbelievable reaction from the fans, so thank you. I really appreciate your support. It means a lot," the England international said on his official Facebook page.

Rooney could reportedly soon be offered a new contract.
