Half-Time Report: Napoli bounce back to lead Sampdoria

Goals from Manolo Gabbiadini and Gonzalo Higuain hand Napoli a 2-1 half-time lead over Sampdoria.

Napoli have recovered from an early setback to take a 2-1 lead into the break against Sampdoria at the Stadio San Paolo.

The home side made a bright start and could have been ahead when Gonzalo Higuain forced his way into space, but Emiliano Viviano reacted well to make a fine save from the Argentine's effort.

However, the lead belonged to the visitors when Eder was gifted the space to break on the right wing before delivering a dangerous cross which Raul Albiol inadvertently put into his own net.

Napoli should have responded to the setback two minutes later, but Jose Callejon could only miscue his shot straight at a relieved Viviano.

The hosts were gifted an equaliser due to a dreadful mistake from Viviano, who somehow allowed Manolo Gabbiadini's effort to slip through his legs after appearing to be in position to make a comfortable save.

Napoli quickly grew in confidence to take the lead as Gabbiadini turned into the creator to allow Higuain to slot home his side's second goal.
