Steve Evans: 'Rotherham United not in for Luciano Becchio'

Luciano Becchio will not be joining Rotherham United this summer, according to manager Steve Evans.

Rotherham United manager Steve Evans has played down speculation that has linked his club with a move for Luciano Becchio.

The Argentine, who was recently released by Norwich City, spent part of last season on loan with Rotherham before his stint was cut short by injury.

He had been linked with a return to the New York Stadium on a permanent deal this summer, but Evans has insisted that the striker is not currently in his thinking.

"Players like Luciano are not on our immediate radar," the Millers boss told the Yorkshire Evening Post.

"Everyone knows I have a fantastic relationship with the lad from his brief time with us, and people know how frustrated we were when he picked up his injury because we were starting to see him blossom.

"We have moved elsewhere now and he isn't someone that we have spoken to as we look to put together our squad for next season."

Becchio scored two goals during his five outings for Rotherham.
