FA: We know what we're doing

FA chief executive Alex Horne says that the FA have clearly set up their plans for who they want as the next England manager.

Football Association chief executive Alex Horne has defended the decision to wait until the end of the season to name the next England manager.

The Three Lions have been without a coach since Fabio Capello resigned from his position in February.

Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp has been continually linked with the vacant position, but the FA have not made an approach to the Spurs manager.

However, FA chief executive Horne has promised fans that they know what they are doing.

"We're waiting until the tail end of the season," Horne told BBC Sport. "We are not far away. What we've done as an FA is clearly set up all our plans.

"We know exactly what we're doing between now and our first game and we just need to slot a manager in, giving that individual enough time to get used to the set-up."

West Bromwich Albion Roy Hodgson has also been suggested as a possible candidate for the national job.
