Harry Redknapp: Tottenham Hotspur need signings

Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp states that the club will only qualify for the Champions League if they improve their squad.

Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp has urged his superiors to provide transfer funds in the summer by stating that the club will only qualify for the Champions League if they improve their squad.

Spurs are currently clinging on to the fourth place in the Premier League table, but are 16th in the form table and have only won two league games since January.

While Redknapp is hopeful of achieving a top-four finish this season, he is adamant that it will not be possible to replicate such a high placing in the following campaign without "one or two" key additions.

He said: "If we want Champions League football again we need to improve the squad again in the summer. You have to keep improving because everyone else around us will.

"If you want to start winning championships then you really have to push on and raise the bar because that's the only way you are going to do it.

"You just need to keep adding a little bit of quality to your squad. We need to bring one or two top quality players in and make us even better."

Injuries to Michael Dawson, Ledley King and Younes Kaboul mean that Redknapp is likely to field, in Ryan Nelson and William Gallas, a central defensive partnership with a combined age of 68 for the FA Cup semi-final with Chelsea on Sunday.
