Sports Mole rounds up all of the latest transfer news in the Premier League on Wednesday, December 23.

Wednesday morning's Premier League transfer talk news roundup:

Manchester United to raise over £30m from January player sales?

Manchester United chief executive Ed Woodward is considering a January clear-out which would include several of the club's fringe players, according to reports.

Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is hoping to bolster his squad next month, with a centre-back, a right-back, a holding-midfielder and a winger all on the Norwegian's list of targets.

The Daily Mirror have used valuations from transfermarkt to state how United could recoup over £30m from player sales.

Defenders Eric Bailly, Marcos Rojo, Phil Jones and Timothy Fosu-Mensah, who have all slipped down the pecking order at Old Trafford, could be sold for a combined fee of around £29.65m.

Midfielder Jesse Lingard, who is yet to make a first-team appearance in any competition this season, and Juan Mata, whose contract expires in June, could depart for a combined total of £15.8m.

Finally, Sergio Romero is surplus to requirements following the return of highly-rated goalkeeper Dean Henderson and the January window could be a good opportunity for the Red Devils to cash in and raise around £1.8m for the Argentinian.

United have recently climbed to third in the Premier League and could move two points behind leaders Liverpool if they win their game in hand.

Manchester United 'to rival Liverpool for Renato Sanches'

Manchester United are reportedly set to battle Liverpool for the signature of Lille midfielder Renato Sanches.

The 23-year-old is out of action with a muscular injury at the minute but has enjoyed a successful stint in France since his ill-fated loan spell at Swansea City.

Sanches has made eight top-flight appearances this term for Lille, who currently top the rankings in Ligue 1, and the Portugal international has since been heavily linked with a move to Anfield amid uncertainty over Georginio Wijnaldum's future.

However, Gazzetta dello Sport claims that Man United are also admirers of the Dogues midfielder, while Inter Milan are keeping a close eye on developments.

The report claims that Lille may entertain offers for Sanches given the need to balance the books, and a bid of €20m (£18.2m) may be enough to prise the former Bayern Munich man away from the Stade Pierre-Mauroy.

Sanches is contracted to Christophe Galtier's side until the end of the 2022-23 campaign.
