PSV Eindhoven midfielder Kevin Strootman is hopeful that Mark van Bommel will rejoin the club from AC Milan in the summer.
The Dutch international has long been linked with a return to PSV, having spent six years with the club up until 2005.
He is out of contract with Milan in the summer and PSV have made it known that they are keen to resign the 34-year-old on a free transfer.
"Of course I hope he comes, he would make us better," Strootman told NUSport.
"He's someone who, as a younger player, you look up to. I want to be as good as him, but who wouldn't want to be?"
Van Bommel has also played for Barcelona and Bayern Munich.
