Ricardo Carvalho wary Arsenal could "surprise" Monaco in return leg

Monaco defender Ricardo Carvalho believes that Arsenal are capable of getting a result in Tuesday's Champions League last-16 second leg, despite being 3-1 down.

AS Monaco defender Ricardo Carvalho has warned that Arsenal are capable of pulling off a "surprise" victory in their last-16 Champions League return leg on Tuesday.

Arsene Wenger's side currently trail Monaco 3-1 from the first leg, but the Gunners are heading into the match in good form following Saturday's 3-0 win over West Ham United.

"Sometimes [an upset] happens in football," Carvalho told Perform. "Of course, for most people it was a surprise. Arsenal are a great team, but sometimes in football, it's true that it can happen.

"So it can happen with us at home, so we have to be ready to play well because in football you can have that kind of surprise."

Monaco face Arsenal on the back of a 3-0 win over Bastia on home turf.
