Ricardo Carvalho: 'Monaco can get even better'

Monaco defender Ricardo Carvalho backs his side to get even better in the future despite the departure of a number of key players over recent times.

Defender Ricardo Carvalho has backed his Monaco side to get even better despite the loss of a number of key players in recent years.

Monaco have started to recover following a tough start to the season, which came arguably in part due to a change in management, as well as the departure of important players such as Radamel Falcao and James Rodriguez.

"Once that period was over we put all that behind us and we started to play better, we started to win more games and that gave us confidence," Carvalho told The Ligue 1 Show.

"More and more victories gave us even more confidence - we're much better now and there's potential for us to get even better.

"We've got our own characteristics. We're a team who defends really well and is built to play on the counter attack. We're not a team who will pass the ball around a lot and create a lot of play."

Monaco currently hold fifth position in the Ligue 1 standings.
