Freddie Ljungberg 'disagreed with Unai Emery before Arsenal sacking'

Freddie Ljungberg reportedly privately disagreed with the tactics of Unai Emery before the Spaniard was sacked by Arsenal.

Freddie Ljungberg reportedly privately disagreed with the tactics of Unai Emery before the Spaniard was sacked by Arsenal.

The former midfielder has taken over on an interim basis following the club's decision to sack Emery following a winless run of seven games.

Reports have suggested that Arsenal players lost respect for Emery, with some even openly mocking the Spaniard in training during his final few weeks.

According to The Athletic, Ljungberg was privately in opposition to many tactical decisions taken by the 47-year-old.

In October, it was claimed that Arsenal players had stopped going to Emery for tactical advice and instead approached the more personable Ljungberg.

The interim coach made some notable selections in his opening game against Norwich City, placing Granit Xhaka and Mesut Ozil - two players ostracised under Emery - into the starting XI.
