Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain expects to be sidelined for three months

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain says that he will be out with a knee injury for three months following Arsene Wenger's claims that the winger would miss at least six weeks.

Arsenal winger Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has claimed that he expects to return to the fold in three months after suffering a knee injury.

The England international left the Emirates on crutches last weekend following the Gunners' opening Premier League 3-1 defeat to Aston Villa.

While manager Arsene Wenger confirmed yesterday that the 20-year-old would be out of action for at least six weeks, Oxlade-Chamberlain is expecting a lengthier absence.

The winger wrote on Twitter: "Gutted I'm injured so early in the season. But I'm going to be working hard to hopefully be back playing in three months."

Meanwhile, Arsenal are preparing for their Champions League qualifier against Fenerbahce in Turkey this evening.
