Arsene Wenger delighted with "perfect week" for Arsenal

Arsene Wenger admits that it was the "perfect week" as Arsenal claimed a 2-0 win over Aston Villa after their heroics in the Champions League in midweek.

Arsene Wenger has admitted that it was a "perfect week" for Arsenal as his side climbed to the top of the Premier League with a 2-0 victory over Aston Villa.

Olivier Giroud and Aaron Ramsey secured the points at Villa Park just days after the Gunners booked their spot in the knockout stage of the Champions League with a 3-0 win against Olympiacos.

"It was a perfect week for us," Wenger told BBC Sport. "We spent a lot of energy away in the Champions League on Wednesday but found the resources to win again here today, in another away match.

"In the first half we were in control but in the second half the legs had gone a bit. But we were mature, and maybe a bit lucky on one or two occasions, but overall it is great to come here and to win away again."

Leicester City can return to the top of the table with victory over Chelsea on Monday night.
