Arsenal 'agree deal to sign Lucas Perez'

Arsenal reportedly agree a £17.1m deal with Deportivo La Coruna for striker Lucas Perez, having allegedly seen an earlier bid rejected.

Arsenal have agreed a deal with Deportivo La Coruna to sign forward Lucas Perez, according to reports.

The Gunners were thought to be on the verge of signing the Spaniard earlier today having triggered his release clause of €20m (£17.1m).

Subsequent speculation in Spain claimed that Deportivo had rejected that bid as Arsenal had offered the money in two instalments, but BBC Sport now reports that the clubs have agreed on the £17.1m fee.

Lucas had previously been linked with Everton, but Arsenal hijacked the bid in the closing stages and now appear to have secured his signature.

Lucas, who scored 17 La Liga goals last season, could be joined by Valencia defender Shkodran Mustafi after the Gunners reportedly agreed a fee in excess of £35m for the Germany international.
