Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang warned by Ian Wright against leaving Arsenal

Arsenal great Ian Wright questions whether Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang can further his career by departing the Emirates Stadium this summer.

Ian Wright has told Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang that he may struggle to find a club that is will to match the type of contract Arsenal are prepared to give him.

The Gabon international is into the final year of his existing deal at the Emirates Stadium and has been tipped to move on this summer if fresh terms are not agreed.

Arsenal are said to be in discussions with Aubameyang, who has bagged another 17 goals in the Premier League this term, over extending his contract.

Amid suggestions that the 30-year-old is seeking a new challenge elsewhere, Gunners great Wright has warned that the grass is not always greener on the other side.

"If the season was still going and he continued scoring goals then he'd be in a strong position [to negotiate]," he told The Express.

"But I think the position he's in now - we're talking about someone who's going to be 32 next summer.

"He is getting into a situation where if he does see that contract out, are the same people going to come for him?

"The contract that he's got on the table from Arsenal, is there going to be another club who's going to give him the same kind of contract?"

Barcelona are reportedly among a clutch of heavyweight clubs keeping tabs on Aubameyang's contract situation.
