Bayern Munich are reportedly lining up a January move for Athletic Bilbao defender Unai Nunez.
The German champions are facing a selection crisis at the back, with Niklas Sule out for the foreseeable future due to a knee injury and Lucas Hernandez undergoing ankle surgery earlier this week.
According to Goal.com, Bayern have already been in contact with Nunez's entourage to discuss a potential swoop in the winter transfer window, and the club will decide in the coming weeks whether to submit an offer.
Everton and Arsenal are also believed to be admirers of the 22-year-old, who has a release clause in the region of £26m inserted into his current deal at San Mames, which will run until June 2023.
Nunez made his debut for the Spanish national team against the Faroe Islands in September, while he has appeared on three occasions in La Liga this term.
Jerome Boateng is currently Bayern's only senior central defender with a clean bill of health, although the likes of Javi Martinez, Benjamin Pavard and David Alaba are capable of playing in the middle for Niko Kovac's team, who are next in Bundesliga action at home to Union Berlin on Saturday afternoon.
