Arsenal boss Unai Emery confirms that the club are in talks with strikers Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang over new contracts.

Unai Emery has confirmed that Arsenal are discussing new contracts with star strikers Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

The pair hit 19 and 31 goals, respectively, across all competitions last season and Aubameyang's deal expires in the summer of 2021, while Lacazette is tied down for a year beyond that.

Emery has recognised the importance of the two forwards to the Gunners' future and is keen for the club to secure their services for the long-term.

"They are very important players and their contracts need to be in the same balance," Emery said in quotes reported by Goal.

"It's one circumstance, one issue now, that the club is working on. Edu is here for that reason. There's also Raul [Sanllehi] and Huss [Fahmy], working with the players for that.

"It's important for them, but my focus is on preparing the matches, each training session and making sure the players are focused and concentrated for us and on the work.

"I want the best for the club and I want the best for the players. I think if the club and they are speaking about that, it's perfect."

Aubameyang already has one goal from his first Premier League outing against Newcastle United, with Alexandre Lacazette returning to the starting line-up alongside him as Arsenal host Burnley at the Emirates in their second league fixture.
