New Arsenal manager Unai Emery opts against answering questions on the future of Jack Wilshere, who is currently free to join another club.

Unai Emery has avoided answering questions on the uncertain future of midfielder Jack Wilshere at his first press conference as Arsenal manager.

The 26-year-old becomes a free agent at the beginning of next month after reportedly declining a reduced salary at the Emirates Stadium, which would be based on the number of appearances made.

Following Arsene Wenger's departure at the end of the season, however, it is claimed that Arsenal are now keen to tie Wilshere down to a long-term deal to help with the new manager's transition.

Emery gave little away when asked to comment on the Englishman's future, telling reporters: "I know all the players. I think all the players are very important. All the players I want to speak to individually. I want to speak to them face to face."

When asked specifically about Wilshere, Emery responded: "I don't want to speak about individual players today."

Wilshere has been left out of England's 23-man squad for next month's World Cup in Russia.
