Arsenal reportedly remain interested in adding Sevilla midfielder Ever Banega to their squad, despite Unai Emery's admission that the club are restricted to loan signings this month.
The Gunners boss has been told that permanent signings are off the cards until the summer due to some lavish spending in 2018, coupled with a growing wage bill.
Emery is happy with his current group, but the Spaniard is said to be keen to bring in a midfield replacement for Aaron Ramsey, who is due to depart the Emirates Stadium on a free contract in June.
According to The Telegraph, long-term target Banega is still on their radar, but Arsenal will have to come to an agreement with Sevilla over an initial loan deal that can be turned into a permanent arrangement later this year.
Emery has talked up the 30-year-old's quality during the January window, having worked with him at Sevilla.
Barcelona ace Denis Suarez is also wanted by the North London outfit, with personal terms believed to have been agreed between the two parties.
