Report: Arsenal offer David Luiz player-coach role to stay on at Emirates Stadium

Arsenal will give David Luiz the opportunity to make the transition into coaching if he pens another contract extension, according to a report.

David Luiz has reportedly been offered a player-coach role to stay on at Arsenal beyond this season.

The experienced centre-back has spent the last two seasons with the Gunners and is set to become a free agent in June.

However, football.london reports that Arsenal are eager for Luiz to remain at the Emirates Stadium, albeit in a reduced playing capacity.

Former Brazil international Luiz has supposedly been told that he will not play regularly next season, but he will be given the chance to start his transition into coaching.

Arsenal find themselves in a bad financial position and must cut costs accordingly, which could see the likes of Alexandre Lacazette, Lucas Torreira and Matteo Guendouzi being sold this summer.
