Jeremy Toulalan: 'Monaco confident ahead of second leg'

Jeremy Toulalan insists that Monaco still have a strong chance of reaching the Champions League group stage after losing 3-1 to Valencia.

Jeremy Toulalan has insisted that Monaco can overturn a 3-1 deficit when they host Valencia in the second leg of their Champions League qualifying tie.

Leonardo Jardim's men were on course for a positive result when Mario Pasalic cancelled out Rodrigo's goal early in the second half, but Dani Parejo and Sofiane Feghouli both scored to hand Valencia victory.

Despite facing a difficult challenge ahead of Tuesday's meeting, Toulalan is confident of progressing if Monaco manage to score the first goal at Stade Louis II.

"We committed defensive mistakes and we paid heavily for them," the midfielder told beIN Sports. "It's all a shame because we had chances to score and we did not.

"We could have got a draw but there is still much to play for. We saw that we can create chances, so anything is possible.

"It will be tough but if we start well at home and score the first goal, everything is still open to us."

Monaco visit Toulouse in Ligue 1 on Saturday before hosting Valencia in the second leg.
