Joleon Lescott has said that he hopes his experience will help Aston Villa develop over the next few seasons.
The defender joined the club from West Bromwich Albion on transfer deadline day, signing a two-year contract with the club that he supported as a boy.
The former England international told the club's website: "We now have a young, energetic squad but hopefully I can bring some experience and help it develop over the next few years.
"I've been lucky enough to play with Micah [Richards] both at Man City and with England. I know he can go on and be one of the best centre-halves.
"I know [Scott] Sinclair, Gabby Agbonlahor and Joe Cole too. Hopefully we can all gel in the next few weeks."
Lescott won two Premier League titles, an FA Cup and the League Cup during his time with Manchester City before joining the Baggies last summer.
