Atletico Madrid and Real Sociedad finish the first half goalless in tonight's La Liga encounter at the Vicente Calderon.

Atletico Madrid and Real Sociedad have ended the first half goalless in tonight's La Liga encounter at the Vicente Calderon.

A win for Atletico would see them move above city rivals Real Madrid into second place in the league table.

The hosts almost took the lead in the 14th minute, but Radamel Falcao's effort was cleared off the line by Markel Bergara.

Atletico were dominant in possession for large spells of the first half, but Sociedad created an opening on 30 minutes when Antoine Griezmann shot straight at goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois.

Arda Turan saw his drive flash narrowly wide of the goal soon after, while Inigo Martinez wasted a free kick for the visitors in the final stages.
