Atletico Madrid have slipped down to third place in the La Liga table with a 1-0 defeat at home to Real Sociedad.

The only goal of the game came in the 53rd minute when Xabi Prieto collected Carlos Vela's pass before firing powerfully into the net.

The loss has seen Atletico move a point behind local rivals Real Madrid following Los Blancos' 2-1 win over Celta Vigo earlier on Sunday.

Meanwhile, Sociedad have climbed up to fifth place in the standings.
