Javier Mascherano warns against Barcelona complacency

Barcelona defender Javier Mascherano warns his side against complacency when they face Juventus in the Champions League final in Berlin.

Barcelona defender Javier Mascherano has warned that "nobody is invincible" as his side prepare to face Juventus in the Champions League final on Saturday.

Both clubs go into the match in Berlin looking to complete a treble, having already wrapped up their respective domestic league and cup crowns.

Barcelona's scintillating form since the turn of the year makes them heavy favourites to succeed, however, and Mascherano insists that they are approaching the game like any other.

"Nobody is invincible, that's a word that just doesn't exist in football. It would be very wrong if we thought we couldn't lose the final," the Argentine told reporters.

"We are up against a side who are also bidding for a treble, but we will do our utmost to ensure the title doesn't get away from us. This is a chance to make FC Barcelona history. We will be preparing the final just like we have the other 59 games we've played this season. The fans' euphoria isn't affecting us, we can control our emotions and we know that just getting this far doesn't guarantee anything.

"It's always a great feeling to win any title, but it's even more so with the Champions League, which has a special prestige. Let's hope that we all take this big step in our careers and win on Saturday."

Mascherano also reserved special praise for compatriot Lionel Messi, who took his tally for the season to 58 goals with a brace in the Copa del Rey final last weekend.

"There are moments when Messi has the ball and what happens next is only down to him, no matter what his opponents do," he added.

Barcelona also completed the treble under Pep Guardiola in the 2008-09 campaign.
