Lionel Messi returns to training with Barcelona after missing the first four La Liga fixtures with a calf injury.

Barcelona have been handed a boost after Lionel Messi returned to training after a calf injury.

Having sustained the problem while on international duty with Argentina, Messi has missed the opening four La Liga fixtures of the season.

However, ahead of the Champions League meeting with Borussia Dortmund on Tuesday night, the forward has taken part in a session with the rest of his teammates.

No decision regarding his participation in the match in Germany will be made until Monday, although it appears unlikely that the 32-year-old will play any part of the contest with the Bundesliga outfit.

While his absence has been a blow to Ernesto Valverde, the Barcelona manager witnessed his side register a 5-2 victory over Valencia on Saturday evening.
