Aston Villa manager Paul Lambert believes that Borussia Dortmund can upset the odds and win the Champions League.

Aston Villa manager Paul Lambert believes that Borussia Dortmund are capable of upsetting German rivals Bayern Munich in the Champions League final.

The Scotsman, who played for Dortmund for a season in 1996, has insisted that while Bayern are deemed the favourites, their Bundesliga opponents have enough pedigree of their own.

"Bayern Munich, they are the Hollywood club," Lambert told The Express. "But people can get misled by Dortmund, because they are a huge football club.

"Yes, Bayern because of their history, the European Cups, the league titles, the players they have had, but you look at Dortmund and the players they have had, they've won the European Cup, the German league and cup, Cup Winners' Cup, so history is with them as well."

Bayern have defeated Dortmund in the German Super Cup and German Cup this season, but both Bundesliga fixtures were drawn between the pair.
