Bastian Schweinsteiger to return to training

Coach Joachim Low is confident that Bastian Schweinsteiger will return to training ahead of Germany's Euro 2012 opener with Portugal.

Germany coach Joachim Low has revealed that Bastian Schweinsteiger is likely to train with the rest of his Euro 2012 squad early next week.

The 27-year-old Bayern Munich midfielder missed his country's 2-0 win over Israel on Thursday with a calf problem, which left him unable to train.

"Schweinsteiger is now pain free again for the first time," Low told Bild.

"He can perhaps train again with the team on Monday or Tuesday."

Germany begin their Euro 2012 campaign against Portugal a week today.
