Brighton & Hove Albion have climbed to eighth in the Championship table after beating Derby County 2-1 at the Amex Stadium.

The Seagulls broke the deadlock on two minutes when Ashley Barnes scored his fifth goal of the season with a clinical finish from 10 yards.

Andrea Orlandi doubled the lead with a close-range header 23 minutes later following a pinpoint cross from Inigo Calderon.

Derby pulled one back with 20 minutes remaining when Jeff Hendrick flicked Jamie Ward's deep cross into the net from six yards.

However, Gus Poyet's men held on to record their third consecutive win.
