Second-half goals from Anthony Pilkington and Joe Mason have given Cardiff City a 2-0 win against Huddersfield Town in the Championship this afternoon.
The hosts dominated the game's early chances, as Kenwyne Jones forced a save from Huddersfield debutant Jed Steer, before Mason and Joe Ralls saw two efforts go narrowly wide in quick succession.
Nakhi Wells came close to finding the opener for Huddersfield with a shot in the area, but his effort was blocked, before Elliot Ward met a Jamie Paterson free kick with a looping header, but his effort was comfortable for David Marshall in the Cardiff goal.
Pilkington thought he had broken the deadlock for the hosts before the break, but the linesman had flagged for offside.
Cardiff came close to opening the scoring after the break through midfielder Ralls, who found a way past Huddersfield defender Joe Lynch before forcing a save from Steer, before Bluebirds stalwart Peter Whittingham hit a 25-yard strike that went just wide.
The hosts did break the deadlock on 69 minutes through Pilkington, who turned inside the penalty area before firing a low shot past Steer.
Joe Mason doubled Cardiff's lead on 77 minutes, picking up a through-ball from Ralls before producing a simple finish.
